Dougie Newhouse is a Research Assistant Intern working under Dr. Erin Cameron within the Dr. Gilles Arcand Centre for Health Equity. As a graduate of Lakehead University's Master of Science in Kinesiology (Thesis-based) program, Dougie hopes to provide research support and a novel perspective to various ongoing research initiatives at the Dr. Gilles Arcand Centre for Health Equity and specifically AI-NORTH. During his master's studies, Dougie led two Health-Canada approved clinical trials on human thermoregulation that would go on to be accepted for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Additionally, Dougie volunteers weekly with the Hospital Elder Life Program at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center assisting patients experiencing delirium/dementia. During his studies at Lakehead University, Dougie was a member of the Lakehead Thunderwolves varsity hockey team and attended high school in Sault Ste. Marie while playing hockey semi-professionally. In his spare time Dougie enjoys golfing, ice fishing, and spending time with his three chocolate labs: Lilly, Henry, and Chip.
