Research Associate

Dominique Cava, PhD, is a Research Associate in Data Science at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Research Institute. She obtained her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from Western University, where her research focused on computational biomechanics and osteoarthritis. With expertise in healthcare research and data science, Dr. Cava’s current research develops co-designed machine learning algorithms to transform complex data into actionable insights, improving patient care, and driving meaningful change in the health system.

In addition to her research, Dr. Cava is the coordinator of the AI-North Network through the Dr. Gilles Arcand Centre for Health Equity at NOSM University. Through this role, she leads initiatives to promote AI literacy, foster local research collaborations, and the community in AI-driven healthcare. Passionate about building trust and transparency in AI, Dr. Cava is dedicated to involving patients and healthcare providers in the development of AI tools, ensuring equitable and effective adoption in clinical practice.
